Southbound

After enjoying the coziness of the third snowstorm this year, we decided it was time to hit the road for warmer climes. By the way, the little red reflectors in the photo above are the tops of 3-foot markers I put out at the edge of our yard to keep the snowplows from scraping up the lawn. At that point, the road was still buried.

We dug GoJoe out of the snowdrifts and loaded it up. Two days later we were looking out the window at this ...

It was Valentine's Day and we had just finished a sumptuous steak dinner and were feeling the glow of both the sun and the wine. Our woodsy campsite at Hunting Island State Park on the beach south of Charleston, SC, provided a view of sub-tropic vegetation in one direction and sand dunes and sea oats in the other. And, if you looked carefully, you could see the rolling Atlantic through a break in the dunes. It was just a short walk through the dunes to the beach. We stayed two days and enjoyed every minute of it.

We wondered about this one-legged sandpiper ...

Although it was sunny and beautiful at Hunting Island, it was still a bit brisk - in the 50s. In our quest for warmth, we headed even further south. Stay tuned!

Hey, Joe and Tracey! How lovely to be able to escape south in the RV. SC looked lovely, though 50s are still a bit cool. Looking forward to seeing how things are in Key West. Enjoy!

Boy Joe and Tracey, you sure know how to hurt a guy! I am still chopping ice and clearing the driveway. I finally finished today.
