Warmth!

We rolled into John Prince Park in Lake Worth, Florida, and broke out the summer clothes. The elusive warm weather had been found.

John Prince Park is a 700-plus acre oasis surrounded by the greater West Palm Beach metro area. Once you're in the park, you don't feel that you're anywhere near a city. The actual RV park is like many others in Florida, filled mainly with retirees from northern states and Canada fleeing cold weather. As RV parks go, it's a nice one with large campsites and grassy expanses. A short walk in any direction out of the RV area takes you to into some beautiful settings.

Birds, including wing-drying anhingas, abound in the park.

Now, if we could just find a beach ...

Hi Joe & Tracy - Love your website and pictures - thanks for sharing! We're from Haymarket, VA and would like to mirror your stops at some point. But question?? Did you make advance reservations at Hunting Island or the park near Palm Beach, or did you just take a chance that there would be a spot available? We hate making advance plans! Thanks. Walter & Amy

Hi Walter and Amy – Many thanks for your comments! Yes, we made advance reservations at Hunting Island and John Prince Park (near Palm Beach). We don’t like the constraints of schedules either, but we’re on a two-week trip and needed to know that we had places to stay. Plus, it’s high season in south Florida now and getting a site without a reservation is not a certainty. I didn’t see any open sites near us at John Prince and I think we got the last slot at Hunting Island (it was President’s Day weekend). I made the reservations about two weeks before we left on the trip.
Stay in touch!
